From Our Founder: Why I Started Brickell Babe Bible

Emily Dempsey Brickell Babe Bible Founder

I made the big move to Brickell, Miami in January 2022 after almost two years of living out of a suitcase. But settling into my new apartment wasn't as easy as I imagined. I felt lonely in my first few months in Miami, especially since I had left behind a solid network of girl friends in NYC that felt like family.

I lived in the West Village on Perry Street before the pandemic for 11 years. I had everything I ever dreamed of in walking distance- my favorite fitness studios, cute date night restaurants, and my go-to nail salon. Most importantly, I had "my places" in my neighborhood.

When I moved to Miami I didn’t know where to start. It felt like everywhere I turned, someone was trying to take advantage of me. Between the cleaning ladies doubling (or tripling!) their prices and lazy manicurists destroying my nails, I knew there had to be a better way to find “my places” in my new neighborhood.

I FELT LONELY

To make matters worse, changing careers and working from home left me feeling extremely lonely. I missed my tight-knit group of girlfriends, who we would go to workout classes, grab last-minute dinners and drinks with and hold best friend sleepovers. I was new to Miami, and it just didn't feel like home...at least, not yet.

I TOOK ACTION

But I didn't let my situation get the better of me. I took action, reached out to like-minded girls on a popular, local Facebook group, and started our first official BBB happy hour at Moxie's in Mary Brickell Village on March 16, 2022. We had around 35 girls the first night, and there's no stopping us now!

MY VISION FOR THE FUTURE

Our goal at BBB is to continue growing in Brickell and beyond. We have exciting events coming up, including more happy hours, fitness events, wellness seminars, and networking retreats. So make sure to subscribe to our email list to be the first to know about what's coming next!
